The village attorney is appointed by the village president with the advice and consent of the Village Board and serves as the Village's chief legal counsel. In that capacity, he advises the administration and Board on all legal matters unless otherwise assigned to specialized counsel, including offering legal opinions regarding interpretation of the Village Code and state/federal law, represents the Village in litigation, reviews contracts and agreements, and assists in the development of ordinances and resolutions. The village attorney is also a strategic advisor in large development projects and advises the Planning and Zoning Commission on procedural and substantive matters related to annexation, zoning, and subdivision.
